About Younga Yarns Pty Ltd
Younga Yarns is a 100% Aboriginal-owned cultural tourism and educational business based on Yuwi Country in the Mackay region of Queensland. Led by a proud Yuwi and Ghungalu descendant, Younga Yarns offers authentic, locally guided experiences that invite visitors to connect deeply with Country, culture and story. The tourism experiences centre on Walks on Country, including guided cultural walks along the Cape Hillsborough boardwalk at Cape Hillsborough, where guests learn about land and sea environments, bush foods and medicines, local history and the ongoing cultural connections of Aboriginal people to this place. These experiences are delivered through storytelling, observation and respectful engagement, providing visitors with meaningful insight beyond traditional sightseeing. In addition to guided walks, Younga Yarns delivers a range of interactive cultural workshops and talks, including Elders' yarns, bush food and bush medicine experiences, weaving, ochre crushing, artefact learning and cultural art workshops. All experiences are culturally safe, professionally delivered and grounded in local knowledge and community values. Younga Yarns is committed to sharing living culture in a respectful and welcoming way, creating enriching experiences for visitors while supporting First Nations leadership, truth telling and genuine connection to Country.
