About Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield
Watts Bridge Memorial Airfield is located near the town of Toogoolawah in the Somerset region. The original runways and buildings were built in 1942 as part of Australia’s World War II defence program. After the war the airfield was no longer required by the military, so the buildings were removed and the airstrips returned to their previous agricultural use. In the 1980s a small group of dedicated recreational pilots re- discovered the airfield and undertook the enormous task to return the airfield to its original glory. Today the airfield is used by sport and recreational aviators and encourages the public to come along to their events throughout the year.
