About Royston Station

Royston Station is a working cattle and goat property in the heart of Outback Queensland — a peaceful escape where guests can unwind and enjoy the beauty of the bush. The station features three clean and comfortable rustic cottages, each with cooking facilities and modern amenities, accommodating between two and four guests. Every cottage overlooks a small dam affectionately known as the "baby lake" complete with a jetty. Birdlife is plentiful, with around eighty species identified across the property by visiting birdwatchers. A highlight of Royston is the elevated artesian "turkeys nest" swimming hole, offering naturally warm water year-round. With wide outback views, it's the perfect place for a picnic, barbecue, sunset drinks, and unforgettable stargazing. When available, guests can join a property tour with station owner Peter Whip to learn about station life, environmental management, and see the artesian bore, cattle yards, Wagyu cattle, and goats. Royston Station is located just a 45-minute drive southwest of Longreach along the main highway.
