Richard Best Memorial Park and Rest Area

📍 Warra, 4411, Queensland

About Richard Best Memorial Park and Rest Area

Described as unduly lavish in 1877, the restored former Warra Railway Station was relocated to the Richard Best Memorial Park on the Warrego Highway and provides a lovely frontage to the rest area. The park offers an overnight rest area with a 48-hour maximum stay (donations of AUD5 per night are appreciated). Modern new clean facilities have been erected and are conveniently located behind the old Railway Station building. The park is also home to the Warra Progress and Heritage Society, old Warra Jail, Homebush windmill, heritage tractor and the historic Haystack School building utilised from 1910 to 1968. You will find the local Warra Hotel a short walk from the rest stop. A great place to enjoy a delicious meal and cold beverage on the deck and meet the locals. Alternatively take time out of your travels to enjoy a delicious coffee served from the Warra Whistle Stop coffee shop, located in front of the Warra Hotel.
