About Outback Museum of Australia

Rising from the red soil of Charleville’s WWII Secret Base, Cosmos Centre and Charleville Airfield Museum tourism precinct, a unique new building is capturing the attention of locals and visitors alike. Using a mix of contemporary and historical building methods, the impressive circular roofline and modern design is an architectural wonder. The Outback Museum of Australia, or OMOA as it is called, aims to showcase the landscape, the people and the industries of Outback Queensland. Stage 1 of the Outback Museum of Australia, targeted to capture the natural and social history of the region and enhance our local tourism industry content, is now complete. The attraction will play host to a variety of community events and initiatives, while showcasing the history of ancient Indigenous cultures, traditional agriculture and innovation through interactive exhibits.
