Maudu Collective is a First Nations business located in in Jandowae, meaning 'waterhole' in local Barrungham language. Immerse yourself in authentic Indigenous culture, experiencing bush tucker, artefacts, weaving works and workshops, didgeridoo making and sculpturing, with a strong emphasis on recycling and sustainable material practice. Owned and operated by proud Barunggum woman, Valerie Murray, Maudu Collective draws on the ancient wisdom of her ancestors. Valerie is passionate about helping people, making a difference, and teaching the next generation. Pronounced 'maw-doo', the word Maudu is a combination of two words: Mau, the Barunggum word for head, and Du, the Wakka-Wakka word for heart. Therefore, Maudu means 'head and heart' in the language of Valerie's people. Valerie's mission is to help people come back to Country and culture in order to heal, grow and learn. Her business involves the head (learning new knowledge and skills) and the heart (Indigenous culture, family and creativity).
