About Juandah Heritage Site
Juandah Historical Site is a truly unique slice of history. This is the original site of the Juandah Head-Station, the heart of the first European settlement in this area in the late 1940s. At full running capacity, Juandah Station employed up to 80 stockmen to run up to 50,000 head of cattle. Some of the original buildings from its time as a flourishing enterprise are still standing, including the old Juandah Store, built in the 1850s, which contains a room that later became the first school room for the area. Together with the original buildings and structures that are still intact the site showcases a Folk Museum which captures the social history and beautifully displayed local heritage items and is well worth a visit. Picture yourself standing the in the kitchen of the old homestead looking out over the plains - a truly magical experience. The Juandah settlement eventually became the township of Wandoan. Camping onsite is available for a small fee.
