Greenhoose is a friendly, family-run accommodation nestled amongst the rainforests of Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park, approximately 8 kilometres from Lockhart River township. Set on 225 acres of one of Australia’s most diverse ecosystems, Greenhoose is a base from which to explore tropical rainforest, savannah, and reef. The accommodation is ideal for corporate travellers, birdwatchers/naturalists and trip to the tip convoys. Rooms come as standard ensuite, twin share ensuite, twin share with communal bathroom or single with communal bathroom. Greenhoose offers unparalleled access to Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park, Australia’s largest lowland rainforest and a unique biodiverse area that mirrors Papua New Guinea in flora and fauna. Birds such as the Magnificent Rifle-bird, Eclectus Parrot, Northern Scrub-Robin and Palm Cockatoo are common sightings at Greenhoose and a private walking trail takes guests on a circuit through the rainforest. Explore The Great Barrier Reef’s hidden gems with boat ramps at Quintell Beach and Portland Roads providing access to access to amazing fishing. Lockhart River is a small indigenous town famous for artwork created by the Lockhart River Art Gang and also provides essential fuel and supplies. You must also see Portland Roads, a quiet township comprised of a few houses which was once a vital base in the Battle of the Coral Sea. Chilli Beach is nearby, renowned for its palm-fringed beaches and clear blue water.
