About Girraween National Park Camping
Girraween, meaning 'place of flowers', is a park of massive granite outcrops, large angular tors, and precariously balanced boulders. Spectacular wildflower displays splash colour among the granite in spring. Create lasting memories as you share stories of the day's adventures over a barbecue, spot nocturnal wildlife like possums and insectivorous bats, and wake up to the sound of birdsong in our well-equipped camping areas. Surrounded by trees and granite boulders, Kambuwal Camping Area offers more intimate, sheltered sites perfect for small caravans, camper trailers, and tents of various sizes. Known for its open, spacious sites, Terrawambella Camping Area is ideal for larger caravans, camper trailers, and motorhomes. The tent area here is reserved for large, organised groups. Castle Rock Camping Area offers a variety of sites suitable for all campers, including dedicated spaces for persons with disabilities (PWD), ensuring everyone can enjoy the natural beauty of the park. For experienced campers, there are several remote bush camps to choose from in Girraween National Park (restrictions apply). These sites are unmarked, so campers should have strong navigation skills and practice 'leave no trace' principles. Camping permits are required, and fees apply. A tag with your booking number must be displayed at your campsite. Book your campsite and purchase your camping permit in advance. Bookings can be made online or by phone.
