About Chinaman's Lagoon
Chinaman's Lagoon offers a spectacular showing of Australian native water lilies. The lagoon is a picturesque sight when the water lillies are in full bloom, mainly during spring. Take a break from the drive and enjoy a picnic by the water while enjoying this spectacular view. These beautiful pink water lilies are extraordinary in that they are a rare species of tropical water lily (Nymphaea gigantea var rosea) that is extinct in its natural habitat. This species only survives in a handful of locations throughout Australia, Chinaman's Lagoon being one of them. A walking track offers the adventurous a five kilometre walk along the creek from the lagoon which passes the historic Dogwood Cemetery, the first cemetery of Miles and gives access to the main street of Miles.
