📍 Boynedale, 4680, Queensland

About Boynedale Bush Camp

Only 26 kilometres west of Calliope, on the banks of the Boyne River and upstream from Lake Awoonga, you'll find the picturesque Boynedale Bush Camp. The bush camp is open for free camping for up to seven days within a thirty-day period. No bookings are required and campsites are available on a first-come, first served basis. The campground offers toilet facilities, shelters and fire pits. Campers should be fully self-sufficient during their stay as there is no electricity, rubbish bins or potable water available. The bush camp is operated as a sustainable campsite and campers are encouraged to leave their campsite tidy, with any waste removed and disposed of appropriately. Roads are unsealed and may become slippery and boggy in wet weather. Only small dogs may be allowed at the Boynedale Bush Camp but must always be kept strictly under control. Visit the nearby lookout to see stunning views of the Boyne River and Castle Tower National Park. Lake Awoonga is stocked with Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and Sea Mullet and the lake is accessible for fishing by launching a boat via the nearby Trevor Burgess Boat Ramp. For those looking for some land-based activities, discover the Boynedale Rail Trail, a scenic walking track through some of Central Queensland's most beautiful bushland.
